Early EID celebration was a delicious success.
Throughout the holy month of Ramadhan, two of our Muslim colleagues - Fatima & Fuzz - have been busy planning a taster day for colleagues at the YST, young people and community members.
Fuzz explained,
We wanted to share the love with our colleagues and community. Because, while we're fasting, it's hard to cook, serve and watch others eat, Fatima and I can gain extra blessings for Ramadhan."
Fatima added,
We thought we'd do it in the last 10 days, which are considered the most blessed, and being able to explain to our colleagues why we're doing it now is educational - which is a good reason in itself."
The turnout was great, around 50 people. Those attending - colleagues, community members and young people - all agreed the event had been educational and the food amazing.

As well as amazing food - vegan options available - the team hosted a quiz about Islam and created a 'show and tell' display, displaying items used by Muslims during prayer, cleansing rituals and other holy items.

The team were also able to network with other professionals who came to support the day.
The monies raised from the sale of food - £350 - will be donated to charities who are supporting Ukranian young people and their families.
Fatima said,
This was important to us as charity is such a big part of Islam, especially during Ramadhan."
Fatima and Fuzz wanted to thank everone who came to support the event and special thanks go to colleagues, Leon and Nicky, who helped cook and serve food on the day.

Kat Aukett, YST Operations Director, said,
The sharing of traditional food with friends, colleagues, and community members was such a blessing. The addtional fundraising to support families in the Ukraine added to the event. Thank you to Fatima, Fuzz, Leon & Nicky for the time and effort they put into this wonderful gathering."
We'd like to wish our Muslim colleagues and community a heartfelt, Eid Mubarak, ahead of next week's moon sighting, which signals the end of Ramadhan 2022 and the start of Eid.
