Opportunities to volunteer/work with us

Helping young people find their way is something that involves the whole community.

That’s why, in the Youth Support Team, we encourage anyone who would like to get involved in working with us. We have some volunteer opportunities, and support social work student placements wherever possible.

What we offer
Opportunities to get involved include:

  • Helping to run activities and weekly programmes, working alongside youth workers. You need to be able to demonstrate a level of maturity, have some experience of working alongside young people and able to offer a regular evening commitment.

  • Opportunities for research, and formal student placements (these are advertised on the local University website – Degree+). In particular, we accommodate social work students and students from the Children and Families level 4 course, both from the University of Gloucestershire. Due to the age of those we work with and the complex nature of our work we can’t offer short placements or placements to those under 21 years of age. We usually see young people in their own homes and communities so access to your own transport is required

  • We recruit Referral Order Panel volunteers at least once per year. You can find more information on this role here >

  • We also encourage young people themselves to get involved in delivering our services Find out more here >

Coronavirus update for YST services

At Gloucestershire Youth Support Team our priority is the safety and well being of the young people we work with and the staff that work so hard to support them.

As the national lock down restrictions are lifting, we are now returning to more face to face delivery, including some group work and events. We will be continuing to deliver virtual contact. Please be assured that we are ensuring that precautions to keep people safe are maintained in all spaces.

We know these are uncertain times and some people are experiencing heightened concerns. If you are worried please speak to your contact within the YST or contact us at info.glos@prospects.co.uk.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
