Children in Care & Care Leavers

When a young person leaves Local Authority care, they can find things particularly difficult.

In the Youth Support Team we offer specialist advice and support for young people who have recently left care, or who are about to do so.

How we can help
What we can offer includes:

  • Helping young people plan for leaving care
  • Allocating a young person a member of our Leaving Care team to work with them
  • Opportunities to meet other looked after young people and care leavers
  • Helping young people find somewhere to live, and employment or training opportunities.

Care leavers can also access Your Journey, our online resource, which provides information and advice on subjects such as housing, health, money, and young people’s rights.

Who we help
We work with young people in care from age 11, care leavers from 16 up to the age of 18 (25 if they remain in education).
