Shine A Light Awards

The YST Speech & Language team, who work within our Health team were nominated for a national award to recognise the innovative Speech & Language work we do within Youth Justice.

The Shine A Light Awards were launched in 2011, by Pearson Clinical in partnership with The Communication Trust as part of 'Hello', the national year of communication campaign. Each year, they invite individuals and organisations to share their approach to innovation and best practice; the impact their work has had and why speech, language and communication needs are important to them. For over six years, the awards have been successful, in bringing to the forefront the outstanding achievement of more than 100 leading organisations and individuals.

The YST Speech and language team, though not the overall winners, received the “Highly Commended for the Youth Justice of the Year Award”.

Lucy Hulin, the YST Health Team manager said,

This is an amazing national achievement for the team and acknowledges the brilliant work they have done to raise the profile of Speech, Language & Communication needs and their efforts to train professionals working with young people across Gloucestershire".

Kat Aukett, YST Operations Director said,

It is super to have our good work acknowledged and recognised in this way and this is a testament to the hard work of all involved".

Congratulations and well done Health team.

Coronavirus update for YST services

At Gloucestershire Youth Support Team (YST) our priority is the safety and well being of the young people we work with and the staff that work so hard to support them. So for the foreseeable future, the YST will be delivered online and over the phone rather than in person.

All group work and events have been postponed until further notice, but we aim to keep in touch via social media and here. You can still contact us at info.glos@prospects.co.uk.

We will continue a skeleton service for those who are considered at high risk and do what we can to ease the burden and risks of social distancing and social isolation. We know these are difficult times, keep safe.
