Opportunities to volunteer/work with us

Helping young people find their way is something that involves the whole community.

That’s why, in the Youth Support Team, we encourage anyone who would like to get involved in working with us.

What we offer
Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Helping to run activities and weekly programmes, working alongside youth workers. For more info, please download our Youth Work Volunteers Information Sheet.

  • We recruit Referral Order Panel volunteers at least once per year. You can find more information on this role here > and download our Referral Panel Volunteers Information Sheet.

  • Our Activities Team recruit volunteers to help deliver outdoor & adventurous activities to young people AND to support young people to complete their Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. For more information, please download our Activities Team Volunteers Information Sheet

  • Since 2020 we have been producing and distributing healthy meals to families in Gloucestershire during school holidays. We can only do this with support from volunteers who help with food preparation and deliveries. For more information, please download our Healthy Holiday Volunteers Information Sheet

To express an interest or apply for any of these opportunities, please click HERE to complete our Volunteer form.

Opportunities for work experience/placements:

  • We sometimes have opportunities for research, and formal student placements. In particular, we accommodate social work students and students from the Youth Work degree course, both provided by the University of Gloucestershire. Due to the age of those we work with and the complex nature of our work we can’t offer short placements or placements to those under 21 years of age. We often see young people in their own homes and communities so ability to travel is also required.

Paid opportunities:

  • For paid opportunities please refer to the Shaw Trust Vacancies page here >
